About Us

Here at the Historic Fryfogel Tavern and Inn we are committed to preserving and restoring this piece of Perth County history with the guidance and work of the Stratford Perth Heritage Foundation, board members, volunteers, and summer students. We also can’t forget the importance of our visitors and their donations that allow us to keep our doors open to educate the community as well as continuing maintenance on this building from 1845.

Ownership of the Fryfogel Tavern has been in the hands of the Stratford Perth Heritage Foundation since 1966. Originally named the Perth County Historical Foundation, the foundation was incorporated in the Province of Ontario on October 9th, 1964. It wasn't until December 4th, 2013 that the name was changed to Stratford Perth Heritage Foundation to highlight the importance of Stratford within the Perth community and its history. Their motto is “Caring for our past” which proves their dedication to preserving the heritage and history of our community.
